Canada, We Got Our Ways To Go

The Sheepdog’s Up In Canada is hitting home with me this Canada Day. The song is of the Americana type. Big sky, open road, roll those windows down. It has a feel good vibe as is celebrates all that is good about our “home and native land”, but it also doesn’t get carried away with itself. The last line of the chorus is a reminder of how “we got our ways to go”.

The Sheepdogs’ song is not about the tragedies at residential schools, but it is a song about making progress while recognizing how there is still work to be done.
