2019-ish Movie List with Juicy Stats!

In June I began logging the movies I watch.  Why?  Well, it is fun going back through the list and reminding myself of how I waste enjoy me free time.

I completely ripped this off of my buddy Curtiss who makes a similar post on facebook at the beginning of every year.  He does year-end totals, but you know… I just began in June.  So, it is what it is.  I put it into blog form instead of a facebook post because I find this easier to expand on a few things.

An asterisk (*) means a first time viewing.  I’m supposed to put the theatrical viewings in ALL CAPS, but these all were watched on Blu-Ray, DVD, Netflix, Amazon prime, Diz-knee plus, the PVR, or some pirates left it here.  I guess I haven’t gone to the theater in a while…  Anyway, this is what I watched with some stats to follow:

  1. Jingle All the Way. Fuck that movie!! We went to see Star Trek First Contact which was sold out. Imagine a sold out Star Trek today! Jingle was the only other movie playing that looked interesting or funny.

Bad mistake. But I did get to see Jake Lloyd pre-fame.

    Cool idea here man!!

    1. Thanks! I wish I could take credit for it but it was all from Curtiss who probably stole it from someone else, lol. Yeah, Jingle was really bad. I was told it was underrated! Oof. Phil Hartman did all he could. There was a lot of hype for First Contact. Even I went to see it in the theater.

      1. I think First Contact might have been the last time I went to see a Star Trek movie and felt 100% satisfied. Insurrection was like a long episode (albeit a good one) and Nemesis was utter shit. The reboots always left me feeling slightly uncomfortable, like it was Trek in name only. So yeah. FIrst Contact (also First Frakes) is the last one I can feel 100% Trekian about.

          1. Indeed he is. Seagalogy is incredibly interesting… I own 36, but I’ve seen 41. I lost touch with them when he started growing his goatee and sitting down all the time. His first four are essential (Nico, Hard to Kill, Marked for Death and Out for Justice) and Exit Wounds could have been a return. I rate Fire Down Below and On Deadly Ground and his DTDVD era has some gems (if you need a steer gimme a shout).

  3. Welcome back, and happy new year! It looks like a great year for movies for you. I 100% agree on Green Room being underrated. But I’d admit I actually like Jingle All the Way. To be fair, it’s one of those childhood favourites that I could never hate. 😂

  4. I’ve seen quite a few of those on your list But it’s the ones I haven’t seen that have my interest. You will have me pulling the trigger on Blue Ruin. Why I haven’t seen 52 Pick Up is a mystery to me.I will be rectifying that soon. Good solid eclectic list. Light on the 60’s? Just luck of the draw?

    1. It was how it all shook out. I didn’t set you to watch any particular decade. I just watched what I felt like and what was available. When you do get to Blue Ruin, follow it up with Green Room if you enjoyed it. It is made by the same director.
